Steps:
Now that you know how to clean and doctor your tattoo, here are a few things to look out for and what not to do!
- Liquid Antibacterial Soap
- After-care Tattoo Ointment
- Disposable Paper Towels
- Your clean hands!
Steps:
- First, you must clean your hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap.
- Next, you must clean your tattoo with your bare clean hands using antibacterial soap and cool water. Do not use anything abrasive such as a towel or wash rag for this will irritate your tattoo.
- Once your tattoo has been cleaned thoroughly, pat dry with a clean disposable paper towel.
- Next, let air dry for one to two minutes and dry your hands.
- Finally, use your clean dry hands or a tongue depressor to scoop out a very minimal amount of after-care tattoo ointment and apply this to your tattoo. Apply a very thin layer because too thick of a layer will cause your tattoo to not heal properly. There should not be a "glossy" look after you apply the ointment. Your tattoo should have a very small amount of "shimmer" to it. Work the ointment in until there is a thin layer almost as if it is lotion. If you need more ointment out of your jar, do not cross contaminate. Use a new tongue depressor every time or wash your hands and scoop it out with your finger. Disposable gloves would be useful too.
- Do these steps 2 to 3 times a day until the tattoo begins to peel or scab. If this occurs, don't worry! This is normal and pigment will only come out if you pick at the area or try to force it to peel. Once the peeling occurs, discontinue ointment and just wash daily in the areas that are peeling. Your tattoo should be completely healed in 8 to 10 days from the appointment date. In some cases even sooner while using VitaliTree products. After the tattoo is completely healed, you may continue using the VitaliTree salve to keep it fresh and vivid overtime. This will give your tattoo longevity. Taking care of your tattoo longterm is important too!
Now that you know how to clean and doctor your tattoo, here are a few things to look out for and what not to do!
- Keep your fresh tattoo away from pets including cats and dogs. Our pets have a dandruff that will easily infect tattoos preventing it to heal.
- Try not to sleep with your tattoo being rubbed against any rough fabric such as sheets or clothing.
- Do not pick scabs for this will surely cause your tattoo to scar.
- Keep your fresh tattoo out of direct sunlight until fully healed.
- Refrain from going swimming or going to the beach for at least 2 weeks.
- Refrain from wearing tight clothing that will limit the tattoo from getting air to properly heal.
- Beware of cross contamination for your tattoo is an open wound
